Sailcrafters is currently doing a trial run of its first ever apprenticeship program.
Students are learning everything they need for sailmaking, from how many different tapes we use in the loft (~15) to how to run and maintain a sewing machine to UV installation to detailing work and hand sewing.
Students have all made their own bag, a common first project for new sailmakers. It’s a great way to practice all the skills needed for actual sailmaking, without having to put all the time into building an actual sail. (They’re also Scrappy approved.)
